Bayern Munich want €50m plus bonus for Manchester United target

Bayern Munich have set their asking price for Manchester United target Matthijs de Ligt, with the defender keen on a move to the English Premier League.

Matthijs de Ligt is looking increasingly likely to leave Bayern Munich this summer, with the Bavarians reportedly targeting Jonathan Tah to bolster their defence. Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing the Dutch defender and are still in talks with his agent Rafaela Pimenta.

According to Sky Sport, Bayern Munich are yet to receive an official offer from Manchester United for de Ligt. But the Bavarians have set their asking price for the 24-year-old. The report claims that FC Bayern want a transfer fee in the region of €50 million plus bonuses for de Ligt, who is keen on making the move to Manchester United and reuniting with former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United would be willing to pay that fee. However, Bayern are under no pressure to sell at the moment, with three years remaining on de Ligt’s contract.

Matthijs de Ligt is coming off an impressive second half of the season with Bayern Munich, and has formed a strong defensive partnership with Eric Dier. However, his high wages combined with interest from Manchester United have seemingly led Bayern chiefs to consider selling him this summer.

Bayern Munich spent around €70m to sign de Ligt from Juventus in 2022. And while they will likely make a loss on his sale, the funds could go a long way in helping the club further bolster its squad.
