New chilling theory emerges in search for missing Jay Slater in Tenerife

A new theory has shed light on why missing British teenager Jay Slater’s phone may have “rang” in a remote area of Tenerife.

The 19-year-old bricklayer’s apprentice has not been seen since he went missing on the island on June 17 after attending a music festival with friends, sparking a massive search that was recently called off by local authorities.

Before calling off the search, police and specialist teams were scouring a remote, mountainous area where Jay’s phone had led them using GPS coordinates.

However, a local journalist in Tenerife, who spoke to a former British Army officer, was told that the area being searched was dangerous and covered in undergrowth, casting doubt on whether or not Jay had ever been to the area.

As Chronicle Live reports, Jay embarked on a perilous 11-hour walk to return to his accommodation when he was last seen and called one of his friends before his phone ran out of battery.

Jay’s family and friends continue to search for him on the island while Nick Pisa, a journalist covering the case, speaks to police and Spanish investigators before proposing a new theory as to why Jay’s phone last rang in the dangerous mountainous region.
