Edinburgh Airport to roll out improved flight information screens across terminal

Edinburgh Airport is set to launch new information screens to provide passengers with comprehensive details about their flights.

The airport’s IT team is currently in the process of implementing large new digital displays that will display language translations for select flights and weather forecasts at passengers’ destinations.

The screens will be an upgrade to the current information panels that provide passengers with their gate, flight status and boarding time. The airport says the new feature will provide an “enhanced experience throughout the terminal.”

Two large screens before and after World Duty Free are among those recently introduced, with the investment forming part of the airport’s operational replacement project and is one of a number of improvements being made over the summer.

Stephanie Battye, IT Service Delivery Manager at Edinburgh Airport, said: “This is a brilliant change for passengers as it gives them consistency across the terminal.

“We replaced all the screens on the terminal, so what we did was improve it not only in terms of appearance, but we also replaced our hardware and made it consistent across the board.

“This opens up a world of opportunities for us. It’s a completely new platform with the potential to introduce essential functionality if and when we choose to do so.”

Other changes being implemented at the terminal include new food and beverage outlets, more water fountains, more electric vehicles operating on the airfield and more space in the check-in hall.
