Many A-list celebrities call the villas around our city home, from reality TV stars to football legends and world-renowned pop superstars. These picturesque villas have become the perfect hideaway for the rich and famous seeking a slice of serene country life.

If you visit these villages, it’s not uncommon to spot these celebrities going about their daily business – so keep your eyes peeled! Here are five villages around Birmingham that have become celebrity havens.

Green Barn

Jack Grealish, singer Jamelia and Gymshark founder Ben Francis have all called Barnt Green home in recent years – and it’s easy to see why. The Worcestershire village boasts stunning properties, beautiful green spaces, a thriving high street and a highly respected food scene.

The village offers a semi-rural lifestyle, with the hustle and bustle of Birmingham just a short drive away. Other famous residents reportedly include former Albion and Villa boss Ron Atkinson, former Blues star Demarai Gray and Liam Ridgewell.

Even UB40 star used to live in the leafy Worcestershire village. Some of the regular places to catch high-flyers are the local pubs – The Barnt Green Inn and the Victoria Inn.

Lapworth

The charming village of Lapworth was almost home to superstar actor Daniel Craig, who was reportedly seen property hunting in the village when he was filming James Bond. The Knives Out star came close to buying a £3 million home – and reportedly stopped off at The Punchbowl pub for a drink – but the deal never went through.

But fear not, this charming village – perfect for those who enjoy long walks along the canals and in the countryside – still boasts a number of famous faces. Lapworth counts legendary musician Tony Iommi and comedian Jasper Carrott among its residents.

Hollywood

There may be no better place than Hollywood to spot celebrities. While the Worcestershire village – nestled between Shirley, Wythall and Maypole – may not boast as many celebrities as its American namesake, it is still home to a number of local celebs.

Hollywood is where both Ohn Taylor and Duran Duran’s Nick Rhodes grew up. In 2018, Taylor even took a midnight trip back to where she grew up, posting the nostalgic personal trip on Instagram.

Former England and Arsenal striker Alan Smith also grew up here, as did Harry Thompson, who starred in Emmerdal as Jason Denshaw.

Hollywood’s most famous resident, however, is Alan Dedicoat. You might not recognise his name, but we’re sure you’d recognise his voice as he’s the Voice of the Balls on The National Lottery Draws and also narrates for Strictly Come Dancing.

Broadway

Broadway is an idyllic village in the Cotswolds, known for its picture-perfect honey-coloured main street. Despite being a popular destination for visitors and famous faces all year round, its architecture and history have been preserved despite mass tourism.

Just an hour from Birmingham, Broadway is known as the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’ and boasts historic buildings, bustling independent shops and restaurants, and even a hilltop castle.

Famous faces can occasionally be seen strolling through the village, especially during the Cheltenham Festival. The Lygon Arms has welcomed a number of celebrities throughout the year, including Amanda Holden, Elizabeth Taylor, Hugh Grant and Renee Zellwegger, to name but a few.

Little Aston

The picturesque village of Little Aston in Staffordshire is abuzz with Premier League footballers. The village has been home to some of the game’s biggest names, including Steven Gerrard, Bryan Robson, Wayne Rooney, Trevor Francis and more.

Locals often nickname Little Aston ‘Millionaires’ Row’ due to its star-studded streets. This picturesque rural village, just north of Birmingham, has been home to football legends such as Darren Bent, Andy Gray, Jamie O’Hara and Peter Schmeichel. Even former James Bond actor Roger Moore once called this charming place home, owning a property on Rosemary Hill.
