Church where serial killer Peter Tobin hid victim’s body could be turned into apartments

The church where serial killer Peter Tobin murdered Angelika Kluk could be turned into apartments or a hotel.

Financially strapped authorities said they are being forced to try to obtain planning permission for St Patrick’s Church in the Anderston area of Glasgow, which would lead to it being sold.

Evil Tobin, 60, hid the body of the 23-year-old Polish student under the chapel floorboards after raping and murdering her in 2006.

A church spokesman said: “Unfortunately, we are now facing a situation where the future of our church and parish is not good and we can expect the church to close.

“The archdiocesan property department is looking at options for the future, including seeking planning permission for uses such as conversion into apartments or a hotel.”

But one local resident said: “It’s the last place anyone would want to spend a night. Tobin’s crimes will never be forgotten.”

In September 2006, Angelika stayed in a room at the church. She befriended Tobin, a convicted child rapist and handyman who called himself Pat McLaughlin.

After she disappeared, Tobin, from Johnstone, was questioned by police and then went on the run. He was later arrested in London.
