Versatile Leeds United winger is ideal replacement for Bayern Munich-linked youngster at PSG, says expert

Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville has been frequently linked with Paris Saint-Germain of late. The Parisian club have also been the subject of rumours of interest in other top wingers including Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Athletic Club’s Nico Williams.

The 22-year-old has made 49 appearances for Leeds United in the 2023-24 season, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists for the Championship side.

With the rumours swirling, journalist Robin Bairner spoke to PSG Talk and noted the characteristics that Summerville has that make him an ideal target for the Parisians. Furthermore, Bairner notes that the Dutchman could be the perfect replacement for Xavi Simons, whose future appears to not lie in Paris amid recent links with Bayern Munich.

“There are some very good players in the Championship,” Bairner said. “It’s not a market you would expect to see PSG buying, admittedly, but Summerville registered 21 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances for Leeds last season, which are excellent numbers. I think in terms of style, you’re probably looking at him as your sort of Xavi Simons replacement in terms of what he’ll give the team.

“I mentioned his goals and assists there, but he’s equally versatile. He can play on either wing, maybe not as versatile as Simons, but he’s got the same kind of creative spark. He’s very good at dribbling and that will give you a good defensive edge as well. He’s strong on recoveries in terms of attacking and pressing the ball. So there’s certainly elements there that Luis Enrique will really like.”
