Incredible moment 70s band interrupts hit song to propose to fan on stage in Edinburgh

A smitten Scotsman took it one step further and proposed on stage at a music legend’s concert.

The loving couple enjoyed the 70s icons’ Madness show in Edinburgh Castle last night.

But the groom-to-be had come up with a plan to show how madly in love he was.

The legendary Ska band began playing their 1981 hit, It Must Be Love.

Lead singer Suggs sang the song as the word love appeared on the screen behind the band.

Love hearts then began to float across the screen, Suggs stopped singing and began to slowly clap.

The singer gathered the rest of the band and the crowd joined in.

A photo of a couple slowly appeared on the giant screen.

One fan, John, had planned the marriage proposal to his partner Heather.

A message then slowly appeared behind the band.

It said: “Heather,

“You are my world.

With much love, John XX.”

The assembled crowd broke out into a great commotion cheer up when the most important question appeared on the screen.

Right on cue, Madness came back to sing and sang the chorus.

A summer of musical offerings for Scottish fans

John and Heather weren’t the only ones to receive a musical proposal.

Several Swifties took the opportunity to create a special memory by proposing at one of Taylor Swift’s shows in Edinburgh.

The star performed a record-breaking three-show run at Murrayfield stadium.

It has become a popular trend among fans of the icon burst the question during his song Love Story – which tells the story of a troubled romance that ultimately ends with a marriage proposal.

A BUCKFAST-crazed couple were high on cloudy wine – after getting engaged – outside the abbey where the drink is produced.

Holly Broadbent, 26, got down on one knee at the monastery, near Devon, and presented fiancé Ash Moon, 41, with a personalised bottle of her favourite grape drink.

She said: “Ash introduced me to Buckfast when we first started dating.

“At first I wasn’t very interested, but now it’s the best thing in the world.

“We love sharing this together, Ash has loved this for years.

“I knew how much he would love it if I proposed at Buckfast Abbey.”

The eccentric couple met at a festival just before the country’s Covid lockdown and have been inseparable ever since.

And shortly after meeting, trance and techno DJ Ash moved from Blackburn to Wrexham, Wales, to be with Holly.

Holly revealed that she had been planning the proposal for months and knew this was the only way to pull it off.
She said: “If Ash could choose any drink he would choose Buckfast.

“I had been planning the trip for a few months and knew I wanted to propose at Buckfast Abbey.
