Super Movers for Every Body: Inspired by Paris 2024? Here’s How to Get Into Paralympic Sports

Track athletics includes sports such as “wheelchair racing, blade racing or guided running for athletes” who are blind or visually impaired. You can use campaign partner Super Movers for Every Body, ParalympicsGB’s Every Body Moves website to search for athletics opportunities using your child’s postcode or search on your local council website.

You can find out more about disability athletics classifications on the England Athletics website and download a list of affiliated athletics clubs offering opportunities for disabled children. Use the Scottish Athletics website to find out more about para-athletics in Scotland and contact your local authority or leisure trust to find out more about clubs and opportunities in your child’s area.

Welsh Athletics has a list of coaches and clubs currently offering inclusive athletics opportunities for children with disabilities.

Athletics Northern Ireland has information about taster sessions for children aged eight to 17, which they run several times a year, as well as beginner and development sessions for Paralympic athletes aged 12 and over. Paralympic field athletics includes sports such as shot put, javelin, club throw and long jump. Use the links to the national athletics bodies above to search for local opportunities.

Special Olympics for people with learning disabilities also includes field track and field events, as well as more than 30 other sports.
