Walker admits Man City are title favourites: Defeat is ours

Manchester City captain Kyle Walker admits they are favourites in this season’s title race.

“I wouldn’t say it’s ego, but we’ve done it four times in a row – this is our trophy to lose,” he said. BBC Sport.

“I can assure you that when you look at your arm and you have that gold badge that no one else has, it’s a good feeling. May it continue to be that way for a long time.”

Walker also said: “For us to go and make it four in a row after a Triple Crown was a huge achievement. To get up and go again after such a high peak, plus we won the Super Cup and the Club World Cup as well, was especially important.

“Now, why can’t we go and make it five in a row? Why can’t we go and do something that I think will probably never be done again? That’s the motivation we have to create from us as a group of players, from me as captain.

“I think if you didn’t have that motivation, he wouldn’t have you at the club. It’s a big part of his DNA, winning.

“Look at the teams he’s coached, the players he’s worked with. He’s not shy about telling you that if you’re not performing at your best, he’s not afraid to tell you.”
