Leeds United get green light for next Daniel Farke transfer as player drops future hint

The permanent addition of Joe Rodon from Tottenham Hotspur has boosted Daniel Farke’s defensive resources and given Leeds United a timely pre-season boost. More signings are expected at Elland Road over the coming weeks and the Whites urgently need to add more strength in depth at the back.

Could a potential move for Jordan Torunarigha be on the cards? United are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing the KAA Gent centre-half this summer. Torino, Crystal Palace, Hoffenheim and VfB Stuttgart have all been credited with an interest in the Nigerian international in recent days.

Torunarigha, who can also play left-back, initially joined Gent on loan before sealing a permanent transfer at the end of the 2021/22 season. He has established himself as a key member of their team, racking up 44 appearances across all competitions last term to help the club finish in seventh position in the Belgian Pro League side

But the 26-year-old defender is expected to move on from Gent in the summer transfer window, having entered the final year of his contract. Gent are said to be willing to listen to offers for Torunarigha. It has been suggested they are looking for a transfer fee around the €2.5m mark for the player.

Speaking to Transfermarkt, Torunarigha said: “There are very exciting and concrete inquiries that I deal with. I feel good, I’m in top shape and ready for the next step.

“I still have a year left on my contract and I’m in no hurry. We’ll see what happens. I strive for the highest possible goals in terms of sport. That definitely plays a role in my decision.”

Chemnitz-born Torunarigha has played 104 times for Gent, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
