Every part of Wales where you can spot the Red Arrows this weekend and the exact time they will fly

The Red Arrows take to the Welsh skies this weekend as thousands of people flock to The Wales Airshow to watch the show. The huge event is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, with thousands of visitors expected to descend on the city on both days.

Attractions that will wow large crowds include live entertainment and a variety of stalls for people to enjoy. The event will also mark Wales Armed Forces Day on Saturday, with a special Veterans’ Village offering stalls and information from charities that support people in the armed forces locally and nationally.

There are a number of road closures in Swansea between Friday afternoon and Monday morning, with drivers being advised on how best to avoid the heavy congestion seen in the build-up to last year’s event. You can read much more about it here.

While the airshow takes place on Saturday and Sunday, the Red Arrows display will take place over Swansea on Saturday, July 6, at 5:15 p.m.. On Sunday, the historic team will head to the Silverstone Grand Prix and while you may see them on the way, there won’t be a specific appearance in Swansea.

In addition to the main attraction, other highlights of the weekend include appearances by the Royal Navy’s Black Cats, a four-man helicopter display team, the Fairey Swordfish, a torpedo bomber, and Team Raven, an aerobatic display team flying self-built RV8 aircraft.

What time will the Red Arrows be at The Wales Airshow on 6th July?

The Red Arrows are due to be at the Swansea airshow at 5.15pm. Here’s their route to the event if you fancy a chance to catch a glimpse.

  • 16:59 – Departure from Cardiff Airport, Rhoose
  • 5:01pm – Cardiff West (approximately Fairwater, Llandaff, Pontacnna)
  • 17:02 – Outside
  • 17:03 – Outside
  • 5.04pm – Caerleon (Approximately Liswery, Llanwern)
  • 5.10pm – Mynydd Wysg, Powys (En route to approx Cwmbran, Dowlais, Pen-y-Fan)
  • 5:12pm – Mynydd Milo (Llandybie)
  • 17:14 – Ponlliw
  • 5.15pm – Swansea Wales Air Display Exhibition
  • 5:16 pm – Outside

  • Where else can I see the Red Arrows in Wales this weekend?


    The Red Arrows will arrive at Cardiff Airport on Friday 5 July at approximately 4.35pm. Although their journey will be mainly overseas, those around Rhoose and Barry will be able to catch a glimpse.

    Although there will be no display on Sunday, there is a good chance the arrows will be visible across various parts of south Wales as they make their way to Silverstone.

    Currently, its route seems set to leaving Cardiff Airport at 11:14am, before being in the vicinity of Fairwater at 11:16am, west of Gilfach Goch at 11:17am, Aberkenfig at 11:18am, Porthcawl at 11:19am before diving overseas.
