Manchester United’s pursuit of Noussair Mazraoui has been dealt a blow with the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham reportedly under threat.

The Red Devils are keen on signing Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, but the deal is dependent on Wan-Bissaka being sold to the Irons.

While West Ham are said to be happy to meet United’s £18m valuation for the right-back, the 26-year-old is reportedly not as keen on the move, with the transfer having been stalled by his wage demands.

With new manager Julen Lopetegui desperate for a new right-back, The Telegraph reports he has turned his attention to Newcastle United and England star Kieran Trippier.

It is not known whether the 33-year-old, whose contract expires next summer, is available for sale, although there has been interest from Saudi Pro League sides.

Newcastle already have a right-back ready to replace the Three Lions veteran in Tino Livramento, although Trippier’s experience and leadership are highly valued by manager Eddie Howe.

Wan-Bissaka is still much admired by West Ham, as is Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters, but with a deal hard to come by before the season starts next week, the transfer could be a goner.

Wan-Bissaka has just one year left on his contract at United and the newcomer would rather cash in this summer than lose it for nothing in 2025.

There is interest in the Inter Milan defender, which could reignite a move for Mazraoui, but the Italian giants want a swap deal with Denzel Dumfries in the opposite direction.

Erik ten Hag’s side are keen on Dumfries and would not be opposed to a swap deal, but Mazraoui is the priority, with United hopeful of landing him and Bayern team-mate Matthijs de Ligt.

The German giants have rejected a bid for both defenders, informing United they want £64million for the pair.
