Match officials confirmed for RC Celta de Vigo Betway Cup

Darren Bond has been confirmed as the referee for Saturday’s Betway Cup home match against RC Celta de Vigo.

Born in Lancashire, the experienced 43-year-old has been part of Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) Select Group One since 2023, having established himself as a veteran of the EFL Championship during his career, taking charge of over 200 games in the second tier.

Last season, Bond officiated five Premier League matches, while he also officiated 14 times in the Championship, five times in the FA Cup and once in the EFL Cup during the 2023/24 season.

Bond is yet to officiate a West Ham United game but was the fourth official in the Hammers’ draws with Crystal Palace and Sheffield United last season, as well as working the 4-3 defeat to Newcastle United in March.

Adam Nunn It is And cook will act as an assistant referee at the London Stadium.

Nunn and Cook are regular referees in Premier League matches, having served as assistants to the Irons on several occasions last season, but never together.

Cook assisted in West Ham’s 2-0 win over Arsenal in December and last week’s victory over Luton Town, while Nunn officiated the Hammers’ 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur and draws with AFC Bournemouth and Liverpool.

Both are also regulars in the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League, and were also selected to assist at UEFA Euro 2024, serving as assistants to Anthony Taylor in Spain’s semi-final against Germany.

Paul Johnson will act as fourth official on Saturday.

Johnson was promoted to Tier 1 referees midway through the 2021/22 season and has spent the last few seasons refereeing primarily in the National League and Premier League 2.
