Opinion: The Adam Idah saga is tiring and needs to end

Seven weeks into the summer transfer window and the continued speculation over a permanent Celtic move for Adam Idah is nothing short of tiresome. Hearing continuous updates about his poor behaviour at Norwich is becoming tedious, and the saga must end.

Idah’s desire for a long-term return to Glasgow is as clear as day. Whether through his social media activity or deliberate disobedience, he has made his intentions for both his current club and Celtic clear.

Despite their actions, the Scottish champions have remained stagnant. Aside from a reported £4m bid, which was swiftly rejected, the club have made few inroads into a permanent deal.

Now it remains to be seen how much Norwich want for Idah, but we can’t imagine it being above the £8m mark. Celtic have a wealth of cash reserves in the bank and should fork out the cash (within reason) to make a deal happen and finally put an end to this dull disaster.

Brendan Rodgers made it public in May that he wants Idah to be brought to Parkhead permanently, and the club are likely to grant his wish. While Norwich manager Johannes Hoff Thorup has stated that the 23-year-old is part of his plans for this season, that can only go so far until money and the player’s wishes come into play.

There are four weeks left in the summer transfer window and Celtic are in need of two strikers. Bringing Idah in permanently should be high on the list of priorities. The sooner a deal is done, the sooner fans and the player can finally move on from this fiasco.
