Man United boss Ten Hag gives injury update after Liverpool defeat – The Home of Irish Football

Manchester United’s pre-season tour ended with a challenging 3-0 defeat to Liverpool. Despite creating several goal-scoring opportunities, United failed to convert, resulting in a scoreline that perhaps does not fully reflect their performance.

In terms of injuries, United have faced a number of defensive setbacks.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans, who all started the game, were forced off the pitch at different times due to various issues. Lindelof and Evans were substituted at half-time, and Will Fish, one of the substitutes, also had to come off after a collision with Liverpool’s Harvey Blair.

Coach Erik ten Hag gave an update after the match.

“We always have to see what happened,” he told MUTV.

“The assessment, of course, with Will Fish is that it’s an impact injury. We also had to replace Jonny Evans at half-time because he was ill. Victor Lindelof (was) a precaution. So, yes, there are some injuries but we have to see how bad it is.”

Adding to the defensive woes, Harry Maguire was notably absent from the match-day squad. Ten Hag explained before the match: “Pre-season is always difficult. But, yes, Harry Maguire, as a precaution we left him out. And we have, of course, had a few injuries, but that’s part of club football. We have to develop our team and make good progression.”

Manchester United now turn their focus to preparing for their competitive season opener against Manchester City in the Community Shield next Saturday.
