Leeds are now looking to sign a £10million player who was included in their league’s Team of the Season last season

Leeds are now looking to sign a player who was one of the best in the Championship last season.

Daniel Farke is trying to bounce back from the disappointment of losing to Southampton at Wembley – and also the pain of losing Archie Gray to Tottenham – by strengthening his squad enough for another shot at promotion.

So which Championship star are Leeds hoping to sign next? Let’s take a look…

Leeds wants Gabriel Sara

A story in Corriere dello Sport (print version, page 31) now claims that Leeds are rivalling Atalanta for the signature of Gabriel Sara.

The Italian outlet believes that Crystal Palace, Leicester and Galatasaray are also looking to sign the Brazilian this summer.

Sara shone for Norwich during the 2023/24 season, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists in 46 league games.

Two of those goals came as Norwich suffered a 3-2 defeat to Leeds at Carrow Road, with the South American assisting one goal before scoring another to put the Canaries 2-0 ahead before the Whites fought back to win.

Sara – who Norwich signed from Sao Paulo for £10m in July 2022 – earned a place in the Championship Team of the Season alongside Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville and Ethan Ampadu for her exceptional efforts.

Brazilian would take Leeds to another level

In our opinion, the signing of Sara could very well lead to Leeds being promoted this season.

Farke is sorely lacking a goal-scoring midfielder, with Glen Kamara – who has since moved on to Rennes – and Ilia Gruev scoring just one goal between them last season.

Therefore, Sara – who made 41 appearances in central midfield last season – should offer a more threatening presence in that area for Leeds if they arrive at Elland Road, taking the attacking burden off the forwards.
