AFC Wimbledon agree to sign Hull City star James Furlong

Hull City defender James Furlong is set to join League Two side AFC Wimbledon on loan. sources told Football Insider.

The two clubs have reached a full agreement for the 22-year-old to make the temporary move from Hull to south-west London.

Furlong is set to undergo a medical at Wimbledon and the left-back will link up with his new team-mates ahead of the new League Two campaign.

Hull are currently flush with cash following the sales of Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves, who both left the club for the Premier League.

Wimbledon finished 10th in League Two last season and will be hoping Furlong’s loan move can help the club move towards their promotion aspirations.

James Furlong set to leave Hull for Wimbledon

Furlong joined Brighton from Shamrock Rovers in 2019 but made just one appearance for the club during his time there.

The left-back’s most successful period in professional football was during his loan spell at Scottish side Motherwell, where he made 16 appearances and provided three assists.

Hull City believe consistent exposure to first-team football will help the progression of Furlong, who has made just one appearance since joining the Championship club.

Wimbledon’s season has fallen apart in the last ten games, with the team dropping points in six of them, drawing two and losing four.
