Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale this summer but want the England international on loan.

The 26-year-old has fallen behind David Raya in the pecking order at the Emirates and his first-team opportunities look set to be very limited going forward.

Ramsdale made just 11 appearances in all competitions last season, trailing Raya in the Premier League and Champions League glove race.

The Sun reports that Nottingham Forest are keen to take advantage of the situation and sign the defender this summer.

However, Arsenal are asking for £50m for the former Bournemouth man and Forest will not meet that price.

Instead, the City Ground outfit are willing to wait until the end of the transfer window and hope to sign Ramsdale on a short-term deal, covering his full wages.

It remains to be seen whether this strategy will work, but it is a risky one in a summer that could see something of a goalkeeping carousel.

Sam Johnstone is another target for Nottingham Forest as he is likely to leave Crystal Palace this summer after falling behind Dean Henderson at Selhurst Park.

There is no shortage of interest in the 31-year-old, with the likes of Wolves, Southampton, Bournemouth and Leicester reportedly keen on the England international.

If Forest wait until the end of the window to negotiate for Ramsdale, they could lose out on Johnstone.

Arsenal are also looking to sign another goalkeeper, with Ramsdale expected to leave, and have already seen a bid for Wolves goalkeeper Daniel Bentley rejected.

The 31-year-old has made just five Premier League appearances but is hugely experienced at lower levels, racking up over 400 appearances for the likes of Southend, Bristol City and Brentford.

The Gunners see him as a safe pair of hands to back up Raya, but their enticingly low £50,000 offer was rejected by Wolves earlier this month, as reported by BBC.
