Erik ten Hag provides Leny Yoro update after disastrous double injury blow for Man Utd against Arsenal

Manchester United have suffered a double injury blow.

Erik ten Hag has provided an update on Leny Yoro’s fitness after Manchester United suffered a double injury blow.

Manchester United’s preparations for the new season continued on Saturday night with a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in Inglewood, Los Angeles.

Rasmus Hojlund gave United an early lead at the SoFi Stadium but Gabriel Jesus soon equalised for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Ten Hag made the changes at half-time but United struggled afterwards, with Gabriel Martinelli scoring a late winner.

The final scoreline is of little importance to United, but injuries to stars Leny Yoro and Hojlund could prove far more costly.

Hojlund was taken off in the 16th minute with an apparent muscle injury after giving United the lead and, after the match, told reporters “we’ll see” when asked about the severity of the problem.

Yoro, a recent £52m signing from Lille, was forced off just after the half-hour mark and appeared to be in some discomfort after receiving lengthy treatment.

The 18-year-old defender impressed on his United debut against Rangers after rejecting Real Madrid to move to Old Trafford, but United fans will now be concerned about his fitness with less than three weeks to go until the start of the Premier League season.

When asked for an update on the pair’s injuries, United boss Ten Hag put on a brave face and played down concerns.

“Of course it’s a very short time (to know about the injuries) and we’ll have to wait more than 24 hours, so we’re hoping to know more.

“We were careful especially with Leny (Yoro) as he only did 50 per cent of the (training) sessions. It’s disappointing that he has to leave but we’ll be positive and see what happens.”

United will now travel to Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego for a meeting with Real Betis on Thursday before facing Liverpool in South Carolina next weekend.
