Murder investigation after east London park stabbing | UK News

A murder investigation is underway in east London after a man was fatally stabbed in a park.

Police were called to Plashet Park in East Ham at 7.38pm on Saturday, the Metropolitan Police said.

They found a man, believed to be in his 20s, with stab wounds. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene, the force said.

Two teenagers were also found injured — one with stab wounds and the other with a blow to the head.

Both were taken to hospital and are not in life-threatening condition, police added.

Detectives say they know the victim’s identity but are waiting for an official post-mortem examination for confirmation so they can tell the family.

Metropolitan Police Superintendent Dion Brown, one of the senior officers responsible for policing Newham, said: “I know this tragic and violent loss of life will cause great disruption to the local community.

“A murder investigation has been launched and continues apace this morning, with skilled detectives supported by local officers and specialists from across the Met. This investigation will be exceptionally thorough and forensic in nature.

“I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information to share what they know with police.”
