A Fenland-born footballer has completed a dream move to Championship side Sheffield United.

Murrow’s Harrison Burrows has signed a four-year deal with the Blades after leaving Peterborough United after more than 15 years.

The 22-year-old, who plays on the left side of defence or in midfield, has been with Posh since he was a youngster.

He joined Peterborough’s academy at the age of six and made his first-team debut in a pre-season friendly at 15.

His professional career began in January 2019, and he quickly made his mark on the league.

Notably, he scored two crucial goals in the EFL Trophy final, helping Peterborough secure a 2–1 victory over Wycombe Wanderers.

Speaking to Sheffield United’s website, Burrows described the move as a perfect step in his career.

The former Posh captain said: “It’s been a long time coming but I’m glad it’s over. I’ve been focusing on pre-season with Peterborough and now I’m here, ready to prove myself on the pitch.

“Peterborough means a lot to me but I’m looking forward to this new challenge.

“It’s time to step up. I’m relishing another chance in the Championship.

“The size of the club speaks for itself – the coach and the players who have already arrived this summer, that was something natural for me.

“The coach has told me what he wants from me and I am excited about the type of game I will play.”

Burrows, whose brother Josh is a regular starter for March Town, made a total of 185 appearances for Peterborough United in all competitions, scoring 20 goals, and also helped the side win promotion to the Championship in 2021.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder praised Burrows’ patience and commitment while the transfer was being finalised.

Wilder said: “His desire to play here is clear. Despite interest from other clubs, he has waited, showing his belief in our club.

“His versatility will be a significant asset to us throughout a competitive championship season.”
