AC Milan beat Man City 3-2 as Celtic crush Chelsea in US games – Sports

NEW YORK: Lorenzo Colombo scored two first-half goals and Marco Nasti scored the winner as AC Milan beat English Premier League champions Manchester City 3-2 on Saturday in New York.

Nasti put Milan ahead and kept the scoreline alive in the 78th minute when the 20-year-old Italian forward received a central pass from Belgian right winger Alexis Saelemaekers and fired a right-footed shot into the net.

Norwegian striker Erling Haaland opened the scoring for Manchester City in the 19th minute but Italian forward Columbo responded for Milan in the 30th and 34th minutes to put the Italian side 2-1 ahead at half-time at Yankee Stadium.

City equalised in the 55th minute when winger Micah Hamilton, from his hometown of Manchester, crossed the ball into the box from the left and England striker James McAtee headed the ball into the net, setting the stage for Nasti’s decisive goal.

A friendly on Saturday pits Manchester United against Arsenal in Los Angeles, while European sides play pre-season warm-up games in US stadiums ahead of the start of their league campaigns next month.

Earlier, Japan’s Kyogo Furuhashi and Denmark’s Matt O’Riley scored first-half goals to give Celtic a 4-1 win over Chelsea.

Luis Palma and Michael Johnston scored second-half goals for the Glasgow side, while Christopher Nkunku saved the Londoners from defeat with an 89th-minute penalty.

Celtic, who beat Man City 4-3 on Tuesday, dominated the match at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.

Celtic took the lead in the 19th minute when O’Riley’s left-footed shot from the right side of the box hit the far post.

Unmarked Furuhashi fired home a left-footed finish from close range in the 33rd minute after O’Riley’s cross to give the Scottish side a 2-0 lead at half-time.

Honduran striker Palma doubled the lead in the 76th minute and Johnston scored the Hoops’ final goal in the 79th.
