Glasgow grape grower loses million due to drought and cows

After unexpected success growing grapes locally, farmer Devon Gilead has suffered unexpected devastation, with losses of more than $10 million due to drought and cows destroying his vines.

Gilead, a beekeeper at Glasgow New Housing Scheme, East Bank Berbice, is known throughout the former county as the “Grape Boss” due to his success in growing the local fruit despite many doubts.

Next door to his home, Gilead was starting a grape farm with government assistance with the land. However, unexpectedly, he said cows have been continually invading his land, destroying his grapevines – a matter for which he has not received justice.
