Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi leaves door open for Liverpool move

Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi leaves door open for Liverpool move

It’s no secret that new Liverpool manager Arne Slot has yet to welcome any new arrivals through the revolving door at Anfield this summer. But that could be about to change now that one of Europe’s most dynamic wingers has expressed his openness to a move.

The Reds’ eagerness to bolster their forward line in preparation for the new season is evident, as demonstrated by their well-documented and, so far, unsuccessful pursuit of Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon.

Now, another candidate to reinforce the team has publicly opened up about the possibility of moving.

When asked about the prospect of playing for another team, Borussia Dortmund speedster Karim Adeyemi was clear when speaking to Ruhr Nachrichten.

Adeyemi attracts interest from England and Italy

“I’m wearing the Dortmund shirt and I’m very happy to be wearing the Dortmund shirt,” said the talented 22-year-old.

However, the Germany international has not ruled out an exit this summer. “There are no guarantees in life,” he said.

Given his age and rapid pace, plus his experience in the Bundesliga and Champions League, it is no surprise that top clubs are keeping an eye on Adeyemi.

Premier League clubs as well as Italian giants Juventus and Milan are interested in the winger, Sky Sport Germany reports.

His contract runs until 2027, which means he won’t come cheap, especially considering Dortmund’s track record of making good money off their young stars.

That said, the same source understands that Adeyemi could leave for just over £33 million – the price they bought him for.

Is Adeyemi good enough for Liverpool?

While Adeyemi is an attractive proposition, he hasn’t been a prolific goalscorer since moving to Germany from Red Bull Salzburg. In fact, he has scored just nine goals in 45 league appearances.

At a team like Liverpool, he will be expected to reach new heights in that regard, especially if he becomes the long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, or even Luis Diaz, who has been repeatedly linked with a move this summer.

There is no doubt that Dortmund, also in transition under a new manager – former Liverpool midfielder Nuri Sahin – know what Adeyemi can bring.

But for now, while his future remains uncertain, it seems unlikely Liverpool will show an interest unless other high-profile targets, including Gordon and possibly Mohammed Kudus, are ruled out.
