Leicester City and Roma’s battle for €40m Soule takes new twist

There are mixed reports on Matias Soulé this evening, with suggestions that Leicester City are offering Juventus €30m plus €5m in add-ons, but that the player would prefer Roma, with the Alexis Saelemaekers issue also at stake.

The Argentine spent last season on loan at Frosinone but is owned by Juventus, who are hoping to sell him for a hefty profit this summer, which could fund their swoop for Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners.

According to Sportitalia this evening, Leicester City are ready to increase their original rejected bid to reach €30m, plus another €5m in add-ons.

This is a figure that would satisfy the Bianconeri, close to their initial asking price of €40 million.

The Soulé saga drags on

However, Sky Sport Italia insist that Soulé would prefer to remain in Serie A and join Roma, agreeing personal terms with the Stadio Olimpico outfit.

Their offer would be much lower than Leicester City’s, around €20m plus €5m in bonuses, but with the player in their sights.

It also appears that Soulé’s hesitation has reached the Foxes, as Sportitalia revealed today that Leicester have also made an offer for Milan right-winger Alexis Saelemaekers.

That was close to the asking price of €10-12m and the 25-year-old Belgium international would cost less than half of Soulé.

If Leicester City do pull off this deal, could they part ways with the Juventus talent and leave him for Roma?
