Edinburgh rail staff ‘spat at’ and verbally abused as police appeal for witnesses

Authorities are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a railway worker was verbally and physically abused in Edinburgh.

The incident occurred at South Gyle railway station on June 15 at around 11:35pm, when a person grabbed and verbally abused a member of staff. The person also blocked the train doors with their arm, which led to the train being delayed.




As the train began to depart, the person spat on the employee.

British Transport Police are asking anyone who saw the incident or has any information to get in touch.

In a statement, BTP said: “At around 11.35pm on 15 June, a person on the platform grabbed and verbally abused a railway staff member and caused a train delay by blocking the doors with their arms.

“When the train finally began to depart, the individual spat at the railroad employee.
