Edinburgh Tourists Call Iconic Steps ‘Hell on Earth’ as ​​Everyone Says the Same Thing

Tourists in Edinburgh have branded the city’s steps “hell on Earth” after a TikTok prank.

Edinburgh is known for its scenic views and picturesque walks, but one aspect that may surprise visitors is just how steep the city is. To get to these landmarks and beauty spots — we’re looking at you, Arthur’s Seat — you have to work for it.

An avid traveller, Cathy, posted a clip of herself walking up Advocate’s Close to the sound of someone panting heavily on the video app. She joked in the caption: “When Google Maps says six minutes but you live in Edinburgh.”

Many visitors and Edinburgh residents responded to the comments and agreed.

One of them said: “I walked up those stairs to work one day… I thought I had died on the way. Never again.”
