Boy, 14, charged after dogs stolen from Leicester backyard

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with theft after two Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppies were stolen from a garden. The male and female puppies were playing outside a house in Helena Crescent, Leicester, at around 8.45pm on Saturday, June 22, when they were taken.

Leicestershire Police launched an appeal for help in locating the male and female puppies and they have yet to be found. But police have arrested and charged the boy with carrying out the theft.

He appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court this morning (Tuesday). Police said in an update this afternoon: “Following a series of enquiries, a 14-year-old boy – who cannot be named for legal reasons – has been charged in connection with this offence.

“He appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court today and was released on bail until his next hearing. Officers are still trying to locate the puppies and are appealing for anyone who has seen them or knows of their whereabouts to come forward.”

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the puppies should call police on 101.
