Glasgow’s unlikely hero climbs lamppost to save injured seagull

Stunned Glasgow residents watched as a man climbed a lamppost on a city centre street to save an injured seagull.

As people packed Glasgow’s bars to watch the Euro 2016 final between England and Spain on Sunday (July 4), people noticed a bird had become entangled in a lamppost on Sauchiehall Street.

As he continued to try to free himself, an unlikely hero emerged from the nearby Box Bar. A video, which was posted to Tik Tok, shows the customer deftly climbing the lamppost.

The stranded seagull continues to flap its wings as the man approaches. After landing next to the bird, the man frees it.

As cheers and applause erupt from the street below, the seagull flies away. After a quick celebration atop the lamppost, the hero glides down to safety.
