New all-day brunch spot Park Side to open in Cardiff

New all-day brunch spot Park Side to open in Cardiff

A new all-day brunch spot, Park Side, is set to open its doors at the Amber Vista development in Cardiff on July 17.

Park Side was originally founded by Sophie Pascoe, 37, and her mother in 2021. It quickly attracted a loyal following by serving coffee and pastries at its small original location in Heath Park.

Now the second site, located a short walk from Roath Park lake and wild gardens, represents a “huge step forward” for the brand, which recently became part of the Fire and Wine Group of venues.

Park Side (Coffee and Kitchen) at Lakeside will offer all-day dining, seating up to 60 people indoors, with an additional 40 people available on a covered, heated terrace.

The all-day menu, available Wednesday through Sunday, will focus on brunch staples like avocado, poached eggs and cherry tomatoes on sourdough, or smoked salmon with ricotta, capers and scrambled eggs on sourdough, as well as a full vegetarian, vegan or classic breakfast.

The menu will also add some new “brunch favorites,” like sourdough bread stuffed with eggs, applewood smoked bacon and cheddar cheese, and fried chicken French toast with buttermilk and spicy honey.

Park Side’s cakes and baked goods have always been supplied by local independent business Carrot Top Bakery, which will increase production to meet the increased capacity of the new Lakeside restaurant.

With locally roasted coffee sourced from Hard Lines, an expanded beverage menu will offer brunch cocktails, wines by the glass, and a rotating selection of beers and lagers on tap. The venue will also remain open to offer a menu of charcuterie platters and cheese boards.

Pascoe said: “We are delighted to have Park Side join Amber Vista’s group of local, independent businesses.

“Whether you’re coming for a glass of artisanal goodness at State of Love & Trust, popping into Thriv for a refreshment, or thinking of staying for a bite to eat and a glass of goodness at Park Side, Ballers or Bodega, there really is something for everyone in this little corner of Cardiff now!”
