Man, 22, arrested, accused of robbing Brighton hotel

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, MI – A 22-year-old has been arrested for robbing a Brighton hotel early Monday morning.

Brighton police arrested the Howell man around 4:15 pm July 15 for allegedly robbing Hampton Inn Suites, 8068 Challis Road, in Brighton earlier that day. He was arrested without incident and lodged at the Livingston County Jail, police said.

Police were called around 1:20 am that day for a reported armed robbery, police said. The man allegedly had entered the hotel to use the bathroom and left, then returned a short time later armed and wearing a mask.

He then went behind the front desk counter where a hotel employee was sitting, opened the cash drawer, took the money and fled in an unknown direction, police said. The employee was not injured in the incident.

The Michigan State Police, Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Green Oak Township Police, Hamburg Township Police Department, Howell City Police Department and the Northfield Township Police Department assisted at the scene.
