Chelsea are considering signing Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville this summer but could face competition from Stade Rennais.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that an “English source” has said Chelsea are interested in the Dutch striker.

Summerville has been heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road this summer following an impressive season for Leeds in the Championship last season, in which he scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

Leeds’ apparent need to sell to help balance the books has also fuelled speculation, with him being the club’s most sellable asset.

Foot Mercato now report that Stade Rennais have turned their attention to the Leeds star as they look set to lose Désiré Doué.

They see him as a potential replacement for Doué should he join PSG, with his “explosive profile” leaving everyone convinced. In fact, the FM goes as far as to compare his style to that of Kylian Mbappé.

The French club are yet to make a concrete approach to Leeds, but may want to do so soon as they are not the only interested party.

According to the English source, four Premier League clubs are following Summerville with interest and Chelsea are among them.

They want to sign ‘an impactful left-footed winger’ and the Leeds man would fit that bill. Their interest is seen as a warning to Stade Rennais.

If they want to sign Summerville, they may want to act quickly and will have to spend big, as he is currently valued at €20 million, a figure they will have no trouble reaching if they sell Doué.
