First Kashmir Youth Conference held in Nottingham; organised by JKLF-UK

Nottingham: The first Kashmiri Youth Conference organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) was held in the city of Nottingham, UK.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the conference titled “Role of Kashmiri Youth Abroad in Kashmir Freedom Movement” was attended by Kashmiri students studying in Britain, Kashmiri intellectuals, academics, Hurriyat leaders, scholars, businessmen, teachers, political leaders, civil society representatives and human rights leaders based in the UK.

The participants of the Youth Conference reiterated their determination to continue the Kashmir freedom movement until it reaches its logical conclusion.

The speakers demanded the release of all illegally detained Kashmiri political leaders, including JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik. They also demanded the withdrawal of the military from the occupied territory.

They urged the young generation of Kashmir to make every effort to make them aware of their responsibilities towards the Azad-e-Kashmir movement.

On this occasion, the conference also decided to establish the Jammu and Kashmir Diaspora Youth Council. A session of the conference was based on mutual dialogue among the youth of Kashmir.

The conference participants paid tributes to Muhammad Maqbool Butt, the pioneer of the Kashmir freedom movement, JKLF leader Amanullah Khan, prominent Azadi Tehreek such as Dr. Farooq Haider, Ashfaq Majeed Wani, Sheikh Abdul Hameed, Sardar Rashid Hasrat, Shabbir Ahmed Siddiqui, Dr. Abdul Ahad Gaur. Prof. Abdul Ahad Wani, Jalil Ahmed Andrabi, Dr. Merajuddin Munshi, Dr. Ashaie, Abdul Hameed Butt, Sardar Aftab Hussain, Jameel Chaudhry Advocate and founder of Mahaz Raishami Abdul Khaliq Ansari and others.

At the end of the conference, several resolutions were approved.

The Nottingham Declaration was also adopted by the participants. The declaration clarified that the Kashmir Valley, Jammu, Ladakh, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and an indivisible political entity.

In the statement, in addition to condemning the ongoing Indian state terrorism in IIOJK, the participants emphasized a sustainable solution to the Kashmir conflict: military withdrawal from the occupied area.

In the statement, the international community, especially the British government, was urged to play its role in resolving the Kashmir conflict.
