Canadian fast food chain Mary Brown’s Chicken to open first store in Belfast on July 24 – The Irish News

CANADIAN fast food chain Mary Brown’s Chicken will open its first store in Belfast on July 24.

Founded in 1969, the Ontario-based company is the newest international food brand to take over a location in the renovated Odyssey complex.

MB Chicken has selected the Northern Ireland market to make its European debut in February 2024 when it opens a store at Lisburn Leisure Park.

The fast-growing food group has confirmed it will remain in the Northern Ireland market only for its restaurant outside of North America.

But new openings are expected later this year in Dublin and London.

“We are delighted to announce that MB Chicken is moving across the road from Lisburn to Belfast as we continue our expansion plans in the UK,” said Dylan Powell, vice president of international development at MB Chicken.

“We are delighted that ice hockey legends The Belfast Giants, who we are supporting for the 2024/2025 season, are joining us for the launch and we look forward to extending a great Canadian welcome to those living in or visiting the Belfast area this week.”

The Canadian restaurant chain has announced that it will be giving away 100 “Big Mary” chicken sandwiches to those interested in trying the food starting at 11 a.m. on July 24.

MB Chicken’s new Odyssey restaurant joins Nando’s, Zizzi and Five Guys restaurants which have recently opened within the complex, which has undergone a £17m refurbishment during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Chapter & Verse, a new standalone bar and restaurant, is set to open in August, while arcade and entertainment specialist Funstation is set to open in September.

It will join existing leisure operators Cineworld, Lost City Golf and Hollywood Bowl.
