Another Coventry thug arrested over trouble ahead of Fidel Glasgow stabbing

Another Coventry thug arrested over trouble ahead of Fidel Glasgow stabbing

Another Coventry thug has been jailed for his part in violence that erupted before a young man was stabbed to death. Fidel Glasgow died after a brawl in the city centre in 2018.

He was stabbed near Club M in the early hours of September 1 and later died in hospital. West Midlands Police have yet to charge anyone in relation to his death.

Ten men were initially convicted in 2022 for their roles in the trouble that led to Fidel’s death. Now, another has been added – Idris Rahman.

The 26-year-old was convicted of violent disorder earlier this year. At Coventry Crown Court last Monday, Rahman, of Morey Street, was jailed for two years and two months.

West Midlands Police said they had increased the total jail terms for the 11 men involved to almost 30 years. But the hunt continues for the suspect who stabbed Fidel, 21, who is the grandson of The Specials singer Neville Staple.

An inquest into his death was held last year and a detective in the murder investigation said a key witness was never questioned after he left the country. There were 17 people involved in the first of two “riots” that broke out on September 1, 2018.
