Selly Oak cyclist taken to QE with serious injuries after collision with car

A cyclist has suffered serious injuries after a collision with a car in Birmingham. He received advanced trauma care at the scene before being transported to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to the crash at the junction of Umberslade Road and Ribblesdale Road in Selly Oak shortly before 2.15pm on Monday, July 15. An ambulance, a paramedic and a trauma doctor and critical care paramedic from MERIT attended the scene.




He was assessed and suffered serious injuries. The man was then taken to hospital.

An ambulance spokeswoman told BirminghamLive: “We were called at 2.14pm on Monday to a road traffic collision involving a car and a cyclist at the junction of Umberslade Road and Ribblesdale Road in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

“An ambulance, paramedic officer and a trauma doctor and critical care paramedic from MERIT attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a male who was the cyclist. He was assessed and suffered serious injuries. He received advanced trauma care at the scene before being transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.”
