Abdul Fatawu’s statement will thrill Leicester City as new challenge awaits

Abdul Fatawu has teased more magical moments in a Leicester City shirt after declaring: “I’m just getting started.”

The Ghanaian winger has made his move to City permanent, joining for £14m from Sporting Lisbon and signing a five-year deal at the King Power Stadium. He delighted fans as City clinched the Championship title and said there is plenty more to come.

He scored seven goals during his year-long loan spell and provided assists for 13 more, improving as the season progressed. At just 20 years of age, he is in the infancy of his career.

“I feel amazing,” Fatawu told the club. “It’s so good to be back and I’m back to focus again on next season. I feel so proud.

“For me, I look at it (last season’s goal contributions) as the beginning. I’m just getting started. I feel so good and I just want to keep going.”

A return to City sees Fatawu reunited with the team-mates who welcomed him last season. The Ghanaian is desperate to be alongside them again, posting a series of celebratory photos on social media last month with the caption: “I’ve missed these moments with the lads. Can’t wait to be back soon.”
