Leeds United now ready to sell ‘incredible’ player for £3.5m profit as European club makes move

Leeds United now ready to sell ‘incredible’ player for £3.5m profit as European club makes move

Leeds United are set to make another permanent sale and their second biggest of the summer in the form of one of Daniel Farke’s signings, according to reporter Fabrizio Romano.

Already this summer, Archie Gray made a big move to Tottenham. With the Profit and Sustainability Rules a concern and the threat of a points deduction, Leeds needed a big sale and at £40m, Gray was certainly it.

His departure has meant pure profit in PSR terms and has kept Leeds well clear of any concerns. Following the hugely talented teenager out the door on a permanent deal are Marc Roca and Diego Llorente.

Both members of Victor Orta’s loan army, the pair were reunited at La Liga side Real Betis for a combined fee of just under £8m. Charlie Cresswell was sold to Toulouse, and Kris Klaesson to Polish side Rakow.

Leeds continue Elland Road sell-off with £8.5m exit this weekend

Sam Greenwood, Darko Gyabi, Jack Harrison and Sonny Perkins were loaned out, with Perkins scoring in his first pre-season game for Leyton Orient, the club he played for until he was 14.

Jamie Shackleton joined Sheffield United on a free, and Lew Bate joined Stockport County. Liam Cooper, Ian Poveda and Cody Drameh are all free agents after their contracts expired at the end of last month.

But one player Leeds fans may not have expected to lose is one who joined just a year ago. Bought for £5m, Glen Kamara starred for Leeds in midfield but he is set to join French side Rennes for £8.5m.

Fabrizio Romano posted on X: “Rennes agree deal to sign Glen Kamara from Leeds United for €10m, here we go! Personal terms also agreed as Kamara leaves Leeds after last good season.”

Losing Kamara is a huge blow and he must be replaced

Sure, the addition of Joe Rothwell on loan is a solid signing, but Leeds needed more in the middle of the park anyway. Rothwell was expected to provide depth, but as things stand, he’s starting for Leeds.

If Ethan Ampadu remains in defence, Leeds will be left with just Ilia Gruev and newcomer Charlie Crew in the middle. The Welsh talent is yet to make his senior debut for Daniel Farke’s side despite being involved.

Described as “amazing” by Jermaine Beckford, Kamara leaves a big hole as the club’s No.6 and the 49ers now need to scramble and make some signings ahead of the opener against Portsmouth.
