Nottingham hotels to review plans for city’s ‘tourist tax’

Alex Flint from Nottingham’s BID – called It’s in Nottingham – helped to present the tax plans.

He said: “Tourism is extremely important for the city.

“Here at Lace Market we have a great example with visitor attractions such as the National Museum of Justice and Nottingham Contemporary.

“We also have bars, hotels and restaurants and of course all the history, so there’s a lot for people to enjoy.

“So we need to make sure we’re promoting this as widely as possible.

“In addition to the events, the extra revenue will go towards the city’s environment, ensuring the streets are clean, giving visitors a warm welcome, ensuring they can find their way around and that transport works for them.”

Accommodation providers will now vote for or against the plans, with a vote planned for September.
