Ndidi reveals reason for signing new Leicester City contract

Wiifred Ndidi says he has decided to sign a new contract with Leicester City following talks with manager Steve Cooper.

Ndidi was a free agent after his previous contract with the former Premier League champions expired at the end of last month.

However, the Nigeria international signed a new three-year contract with the Foxes on Friday to put an end to speculation surrounding his future.

The 27-year-old revealed that Cooper played a key role in his decision to extend his stay at Leicester City.

“I had the chance to speak to (Cooper). I spoke to him during the holidays when he came,” Ndidi told the club’s official website.

“He had some great ideas to share with me, so it was really, really, really awesome and I’m looking forward to working with him. He’s a great guy, he’s funny. I’m looking forward to working with him, it’s really exciting.”

The 27-year-old joined Leicester City from Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk in January 2017.
