POLICE are seeking witnesses following a serious assault which took place in Victoria Park last night (Friday 12 July 2024).

At around 6.50pm, a 19-year-old man was with two friends in Victoria Park, off Newhaven Road, when they were approached by two men on Sur-Ron style motorbikes.

One of the men stabbed the victim in the arm before they both fled on bicycles towards Craighall Road.

Emergency services were called and the victim was taken to the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, where medical staff described his condition as stable.

The first suspect is described as someone in his 20s, thin, 5ft 9in, wearing a balaclava, black clothing and black trainers.

The second suspect is described as someone in his 20s, thin, 5 feet 9 inches tall and wearing black clothing.

Detective Inspector Gavin Howat said: “This appears to have been a targeted attack on the victim and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this attack.

“Victoria Park was busy at the time of the incident and we would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious, or who saw the two suspects on Sur-Ron style motorcycles.

“We would also like to appeal to anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage of the surrounding area to check whether they have captured anything that may be significant to our investigation.
