Liverpool’s summer continues to get underway, with new manager Arne Slot having just finished his first week in charge of the Reds.

Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp at Anfield and despite last season’s impressive results, the Dutchman is expected to make a number of signings. For now, it has been quiet as Euro 2024 and the Copa America take place.

But it appears the Reds have been dealt a number of blows to their plans, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s agent now claiming his client could well sign a new deal with Napoli. And Reds icon John Barnes has warned his former side against signing Anthony Gordon.

These blows come as Liverpool chiefs line up a move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin as they search for a new number two for Alisson. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Liverpool transfer news.

Kvaratskhelia agent pulls off coup

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s agent has revealed that his client could now sign a new contract with Napoli this summer. Kvaratskhelia caught the eye of Georgia at Euro 2024, helping them reach the last 16.

He has also starred for Napoli over the past two years, scoring 25 goals and providing 26 assists, as well as winning the Serie A title in 2023. There had been some doubts over whether he would remain in Italy this summer, with Liverpool one of the teams interested, although his agent has now hinted that he is keen to stay.

“Kvaratskhelia without the Champions League? Then he wants to win the Scudetto,” said Makuma Jugeli. “For the future, everything depends on the Napoli president. If he thinks about selling Kvara, he will do it. If he wants a renewal, he will renew.”
