Leicester (UK), August 26 (ANI): Jamie Vardy signed a new contract with Leicester City on Wednesday and as a result, he will remain at the club until 2023.
England international Vardy finished the 2019-20 season with 23 Premier League goals and won the competition’s Golden Boot as a result.
“The journey I have had with this football club is difficult to describe and whilst we have achieved so much together, I know I have so much more to achieve with this team, so it is a special feeling to be able to commit my future to Leicester City once again,” Vardy said, according to Leicester City’s official website.
“I love playing my football in front of our fans at the King Power Stadium and I’m delighted to continue this journey at such an exciting time for the club. We have a fantastic squad that I believe is capable of getting even better and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together in the years to come,” he added.
Vardy joined the club from Fleetwood Town in 2012 and helped Leicester City reach the Champions League quarter-finals in 2017.
He also holds the record for most goals in consecutive Premier League games, having scored in 11 consecutive games in 2015.
During the 2019–20 season, Vardy became the 29th player to surpass the 100-goal milestone in the Premier League.
Leicester City finished the 2019-20 Premier League season in fifth place with 62 points from 38 matches.
The team will play their first match against West Brom in the upcoming 2020-21 Premier League season. (ANI)
