Club tries to snatch signing from Leicester’s clutches – They feel they have a card to play

Earlier today, Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Juventus’ Matias Soulé has “said yes” to joining Leicester City this summer.

It has also been reported that the Foxes are ready to formalise a bid of €25m plus €5m bonuses, while the Serie A side could approve a sale if they increase the fixed fee by €5m.

Another Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera, claims that AS Roma are trying to pry the 21-year-old away from Leicester.

The Argentina Under-21 international shone during his loan spell at Frosinone last season, where he scored 11 goals and registered three assists. This convinced Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi to include him in his list of targets for this summer.

Soulé is very close to Roma’s Argentine duo Paulo Dybala and Leandro Paredes, and they often invite their compatriot to join them at the Stadio Olimpico.

Leicester are interested in the striker and are willing to offer €35m, likely including bonuses. Roma will be unable to match that, and cannot offer more than €20m including bonuses. Despite this, they feel they have a card to play in order to beat Leicester to Soulé.

Juve boss Thiago Motta is keen on Roma’s Stephan El Shaarawy and the newspaper claims the Giallorossi could offer the Old Lady more money in exchange for Soulé.

It remains to be seen whether that will be enough for them to sign the South American.
