Travis delights fans with Glasgow bus performances amid TRNSMT festival

Travis delighted fans in Glasgow today (Saturday) as he made surprise appearances across the city in a vintage bus promoting his new album.

The band travelled in a double-decker vehicle decorated in the famous yellow and green colour scheme associated with Glasgow and played to passers-by who were impressed by the Scottish rockers.

The band, famous for hits such as Why Does it Always Rain on Me, also stopped off to perform at some of the band’s most famous tourist spots, including an impromptu performance at the Barrowlands Ballroom, and are rumoured to be heading further afield.

Fans have been taking to social media, where crowds can be seen gathering around the legendary rockers to share in the experience. Locals can be seen “pogoing” and jumping around as they sing along to the band’s hit song, ‘Why does it always rain on me?’

Frontman Fran Healy posted on X this morning that the band would be touring Glasgow and invited fans to join them.

The band wrote on their Instagram: “Here are the bus routes for our Travis double decker bus this weekend! We’ll be on board the bus on Saturday, driving around Glasgow and playing around the city centre! Be sure to come and say hi somewhere along the way.”

It turns out that Travis was revealed as the second surprise act of the day at TRNSMT and had music fans flocking to the festival’s newest stage.

Hundreds of fans quickly flocked to the Hangout tent as the boys appeared in the festival’s first over-18s slot and, after a few minor technical issues, quickly drowned out the chants of “Here We F***ing Go” with their first song, Sing.

And the fans sang along, switching to classics with Driftwood, sending everyone on the intimate stage into a frenzy.

And referring to her now-famous flaming orange hair, Fran joked: “Yeah, I had a lot to drink, bru.”

Thunderous applause greeted them as they launched into Circle and Turn, to which Fran shouted that it was “F***ing Great”, which everyone was singing along to every lyric, with bassist Dougie even taking the lead.

The crowd was singing the lyrics to Flowers in the Window before the boys even did, and when they finished with chants of “Travis! Travis!”, they revealed that the next song was new.

Gas Light was a pop song that kept the love bubbling, before Fran revealed the release of her 10th album, LA Times.

And with a rousing rendition of “Why Does It Always Rain On Me,” the crowd was pumped up as Travis asked everyone to “do the Pogo” on the final chorus.

In a blistering show, the Glasgow veterans showed some of today’s younger bands how to rock a crowd.
