BBC Morning Live’s Gethin Jones called ‘very predictable’ by co-star over charity contribution

BBC Morning Live’s Gethin Jones called ‘very predictable’ by co-star over charity contribution

Proud Welshman Gethin Jones, who is best known for presenting BBC One’s Morning Live, had his charity donation branded “very predictable” by his co-star in a recent exchange on social media. Strictly Come Dancing pro Katya Jones, who presents Strictly fitness on Morning Live, was holding a car boot sale in Hexham to raise money for the show’s charity and she took the Mickey out of Gethin’s donation.

Gethin represented his country and donated a Welsh Rugby Union keychain. Showing off her donation to the camera, Katya said good-naturedly: “What do you think Gethin brings? Welsh Rugby Union. He’s very predictable, isn’t he?”

Gethin also reposted the story joking that he was “expecting a good price” for the keychain. Gethin has been a regular at Welsh international games as a proud supporter of the national team and counts former players such as Jamie Roberts among his squad and during this year’s Six Nations the pair – who both attended Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf in Cardiff – were seen soaking up the pre-match atmosphere in the capital.

Gethin recently spoke out about online impostors using his identity to trick his followers. Speaking during an episode of Morning Live, Gethin said: “I feel terrible too because there have been a few of them and you don’t really know how to stop it. How do you know if a celebrity page is real or not?”

He added: “It was scary actually when you texted me. Really, really scary. Not that it’s about me, but about other people losing money. It makes me feel absolutely horrible.” For the latest TV and showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter.

The Welsh star also recently enjoyed a day out in Cardiff with his nephew, including a trip to Roath Park. He captioned his post with Alby: “A special few hours with the birthday boy. The last show of the day was in the park. We laughed all day. Alby is a joy to be around. His autism brings a unique and innocent comedy. His birthday present cost 70p. (Not “20 quid”).” You can read more, here.
