TRNSMT crowd similarly complain about Liam Gallagher’s “dead” set as they plead “bring TITP back”

Liam Gallagher took to the stage at Glasgow Green last night as he headlines the 2024 TRNSMT festival on Friday night.

The 51-year-old musician promised fans he would be performing some old Oasis tracks and he certainly delivered on that promise as he opened his set with a performance of Rock ‘n’ Roll Star before singing a rendition of Half the World Away.

Gallagher took to the stage in his iconic parka to perform some of the band’s best-known hits, but one thing was clearly missing from the show: the crowd atmosphere.

Fans at the Glasgow music festival took to TikTok to express their disappointment at how “dead” the crowd was.

TikTok user @dxni._ took to the social media streaming platform to post footage of the singer singing Cigarettes & Alcohol while everyone around her in the crowd appeared unconcerned about the headliner’s performance.

The clip was captioned: “Why is the crowd at LG so dead? TRNSMT crowd, come on. Sorry to say this… he’s not playing Wonderwall,” along with several laughing face emojis.

Other TikTok users took to the comments to weigh in on the situation, with one writing: “trnsmt fulla spice boys and love island wannabes. Bring titp back.”

Another wrote: “People don’t know all of his other songs besides Supersonic or Wonderwall.”

Another person complained that much of the audience was too young to enjoy the Oasis star’s repertoire, commenting: “Because they weren’t even born when OASIS was a thing.”

A fourth chimed in: “Small, embarrassed millennials. Standing around waiting for Wonderwall,” while another person wrote: “Sign of the times, man.”

The Oasis frontman was the last act of the night and took to the stage at around 9:30pm to perform his hour-and-a-half set.

It was Gallagher’s fourth time performing at TRNSMT since the festival was founded in 2017, replacing the iconic T in the Park music festival which ran for 22 years before closing in 2016.

Viewers watching the BBC’s live broadcast of the festival at home were also unimpressed with the show, but their complaints had little to do with the audience and more to do with Gallagher’s singing abilities.

Taking to X to complain about the singer, one frustrated viewer wrote: “All us 80s kids who longed for Oasis to reform, please watch Liam Gallagher perform at TRNSMT. It’s dead, it’s over, he’s done. IT’S FUCKING OVER. He’s like your dad trying to play 5’s with your kid.”

Someone else agreed: “Liam Gallagher over at #TRNSMT showing everyone exactly why Oasis shouldn’t reform, his best days are definitely behind him. Totally fucked up.”

A third commented brutally: “There are better Oasis cover bands than Liam Gallagher in TRNSMT. By far.”

Gallagher’s TRNSMT performance comes just weeks after he took his Definitely Maybe tour to Glasgow’s OVO Hydro last month, where he received a much better response from his Scottish fans.

The Oasis frontman performed every track from the rock band’s iconic 1994 debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ in honour of the 30th anniversary of their first studio album.

One fan defended him online, writing: “He was unreal at the Hydro. This is why it’s better to see people at their own shows than at festivals.”
